Abdi graduated from School of Engineering (Daneshkadeh Fanni) of Tehran University in 1975. He moved to the US in 1987 and since then worked on NYC Metro area bridges, mostly moveable bridge such as Pulaski Bridge, Ninth Street Bridge and 145^th Street Bridge. Currently, he is working for EnTech Engineering P.C.  as the Resident Engineer for Reconstruction of Willis Ave Bridge over the Harlem River.
